PANGINBULAHAN | FIRST FOR JBLFMU: The Dolphin’s former Managing Editor bag 2nd Prize in Palanca ’24 for Tula sa mga Bata


John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo) Inc.'s alumnus and the former managing editor of The Dolphin, 3/O John Michael G. Londres, brought home the 2nd prize in Tula sa mga Bata Category-Filipino Division of this year’s Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (CPMAL) contest, October 18, 2024.

Third Officer Londres, whose winning poem is entitled “Saklolo, Trak ng Bumbero!,” is the first JBLFMU graduate to receive the prestigious award. The awarding ceremony is scheduled for November 22 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The Palanca Awards, founded by the Carlos Palanca Foundation in 1950, is the Philippines’ longest-running and most esteemed literary competition that aims to inspire Filipino writers to improve their literary works.

Moreover, 3/O Londres is currently with Veritas Maritime Corporation. He served as the Managing Editor of The Dolphin during the academic year 2015-2016 and has earned multiple awards, including recognitions in the Padya Dungog Kinaray-a competitions.
