John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. (JBLFMU-A) students, faculty, and staff participated in the Simultaneous Earthquake Drills and Tsunami Drills in accordance to Memorandum Order No. 136 of the City Government, October 23 at 1500H.
The drill was facilitated by JBLFMU-A’s Brigade Team, together with the Disaster Risk Reduction Unit (DRRU) of the university.
Moreover, an estimated 900 students, faculty, and staff were present during the earthquake drill.
The memorandum is pursuant to the guidance of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to improve the national earthquake preparedness following the recent high-magnitude incidents in the country.
This activity aligns with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8); Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9); and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
