The Mission to Seafarers, one of the largest sea port-based welfare operators in the world, hosted a seminar at the JBL Hall Lobby this morning, with 32 company and placement scholars in attendance.

Part of the discussion included the realities ahead for a cadet and the maritime industry, and included a short introduction about the purpose of the organizationโ€”to observe, to listen, to take action.

Mr. Alfred Ven Garferio, Family Support Network Program Coordinator for the Mission to Seafarers, also talked about the organization's mission to promote spiritual, moral, and physical well-being of the students.

The Mission to Seafarers is an international non-profit organization across more than 200 ports in 50 countries, and conducts ship visits, provides transport, seafarers' centres, justice and welfare support, and welfare training.

The seminar aligns with the university commitment to the following United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Three: Good Health and Well-being, SDG Eight: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
