The Dolphin made history again, bringing home 4th Place Best Online Newsletter and 2nd Place Best Magazine at the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) VI's Western Visayas College Press Conference and Awards (COPRE) 2025, held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Nov. 27.

β€œThe biggest dream of The Dolphin is to win a major award in COPRE. Unexpectedly, we fulfilled that dream last night. This is already a big feat for us, a maritime university, competing against the best publications in Western Visayas,” said Mdpwn. Jexine Ysabelle L. Hibionada, the 36th Editor-In-Chief (EIC) of the publication.

The Dolphin’s entries stood out among 77 other participating publications and more than 800 campus journalists. The last time The Dolphin bagged the same major awards for the magazine and online newsletter was during the 43rd COPRE in 2019.

The publication’s achievements reflect the collective effort, teamwork, and dedication of the staff, guided by their adviser and former EIC, 2/M Majella Angelie P. Albances.

Beyond the magazine and newsletter, the staff also excelled in individual competitions. Mdpn. Kiann Marteen Baldo claimed 4th place in Copyreading and Headline Writing (English), Mdpn. Lee Harvey Gumban took 4th place in Photojournalism (Filipino), and Mdpn. Jade Apdua captured 2nd place in Copyreading and Headline Writing (Filipino).

The team behind The Dolphin’s success includes Mdpwn. Hibionada and Midshipmen Josh Narzoles, Hans Ibert David, Jade Apdua, Joeven Dolendo Jr., Nikko Mariquit, Charles Ghale Villanueva, JB Von Abid, Russel James Amatorio, Kiann Marteen Baldo, Lee Harvey Gumban, John Kirk Shadi Magsael, Rayle Navigar, Joshua Tanciano, Ydzyl Kenn Duller, and Cj Earn Anthony Gonzaga.
