The John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU), through its Research and Community Extension Services teams, in collaboration with technical experts from DENR-PENRO Guimaras and Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), conducted a mangrove labelling activity at JBLCF PDM and the Igang Bay Marine Sanctuary (IBMS).
The activity aimed to properly identify and document mangrove species, support biodiversity monitoring, and promote environmental awareness among researchers, students, community partners, and visitors. It also contributes to the continuing efforts to strengthen science-based conservation and sustainable management of coastal ecosystems.
The initiative supports SDG 14: Life Below Water through coastal and marine ecosystem conservation, SDG 13: Climate Action through mangrove protection and climate resilience, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration between JBLFMU, DENR-PENRO Guimaras, and ISUFST.
