In response to the awareness of the issues regarding the West Philippine Sea, The Dolphin executives took pride as they shared their assertive claims in the Essay Writing Contest led by the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) 6, in collaboration with the  Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 6.

Midshipmen Francis Baldemor, Editor-In-Chief, and Jan Christian Catilo, Associate Editor, from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. snatched first place and third place, respectively, in the awarding ceremony held in J7 Hotel in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao on April 30.

In connection to the theme "West Philippine Sea: Yaman nito ay para sa Pilipino," the staffs shared their expertise and opinion regarding the issue of China and the Philippines.

"Evidence suggests that we can't fight arms-and-arms with China in terms of political, military, and financial manpower. However, we, the Filipinos, can assert our claims to file up diplomatic protests," Mdpn. Baldemor stated.

Moreover, Mdpn. Catilo wrote in his essay that "patriotism should breed in the future generation of the Filipinos, and by that, we should protect and defend our motherland."

The said contest aims to contribute to the awareness of the issues regarding the West Philippine Sea as well as furnish platforms for students to freely express their views and assertions over rights to the West Philippine Sea among high school and college students in the region.

By way of these engagement with the young generation, NICA 6 and the PIA 6 desire to spark the spirit of patriotism among the youth.

  • In what seems to be a rare event, the assemblage of writing pads for the new chairs at John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc., was more than just a logistical task; it was a heartwarming moment that highlighted the unity, care, and dedication of employees bestowed upon their students.

Last July 30, department heads, faculty, and staff flocked in the university gymnasium to assemble the recently purchased 1,240 new monoblock armed chairs.

This initiative was spearheaded by the newly-appointed Administrator, Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MSMM, whose aim is to create a "transformative learning environment" for students.

Mr. Parcia pointed out that the white uniforms worn by students often become soiled due to rust from the old steel chairs, hence, providing greater comfort and flexibility.

Moreover, he noted that disciplined students tend to organize their chairs neatly before leaving, preparing the classroom for the next class.

Upon his appointment, Mr. Parcia quickly recognized a pressing need for adequate seating solutions—drawing from his previous administration at JBLFMU-Molo, where a similar change was successfully implemented five years ago.

“I am confident that students prefer these new chairs better than the previous ones,” he stated, as a unique aspect of this project was the emphasis on camaraderie among the employees.

The newly assigned administrator highlighted the significance of teamwork in the assembly process, stating, “Team members’ cooperation is a crucial ingredient to achieve goals."

This simple act demonstrates the dedication of the employees so students can focus on their studies without the distractions of discomfort and inconvenience.
