• Eight students from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc., secured various awards in the 62nd National Rizal Youth Leadership Institute (NRYLI) held in Teachers Camp, Baguio City from December 5-9, 2024. 

    The prestigious event chose Mdpn. Jeson Madronero Jr., as one of the Top 15 Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines awardees.  

    While Mdpn. Jhonard Quirino, Editor-in-Chief of this publication, emerged as champion in the Feature Writing (Filipino) category.  

    Likewise, Midshipmen Kyle Martin Biluan, Gabrielle Adrian Evangelista, and Prince Ezekiel Moreira's group were champions in the Makabayang Sayawitan competition.  

    On the other hand, Mdpwn. Jexine Ysabelle Hibionada's team was hailed as third placers. Meanwhile, Mdpwn. Jhona Ceballos and Mdpn. Ram Angelo Escander's group stood as finalists in the same category.  

    Spearheaded by 2/M Karl Danielle Sira, participants of this university were composed of students coming from the Student Executive Council and The Dolphin publication. 

    Themed "Rizalian LeaderSHIFT", the leadership event catered 700 delegates: youth leaders, journalists, and council members, from 84 institutions across the country.

  • Ninety-nine beneficiaries received Christmas gift packs at the annual “Pamaskwa sa Barangay” sponsored by John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University’s (Arevalo) faculty and staff, and students at university’s gymnasium, December 6. 

    The beneficiaries include Sto. Niño’s indigent trisikad/ebike/tricycle drivers. 

    The event also featured Gulayan and Best Decorated Trisikad. Winners received cash awards from BSMT PTA, Punta Villa Resort Management, Tatoy’s Manokan, and Cares Food Management Corporation.

  • Those were what the faculty, staff, and students of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. yelled as they counted down for the opening of lights and first ever Christmas program of the university on December 3, 2024.  

    Headed and initiated by the Student Affairs and Services, the event, formally known as "Christmas songs and Christmas lights on a Christmas night," commenced through faculty, staff, and students gathered at the gymnasium set up with do-it-yourself (DIY) candles that lit up the area.  

    This year's theme, "Sparkles Melody and All Things Merry," was introduced by Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MSMM, Administrator, to invoke camaraderie and merry-making through the Lacsonian community in the month when Jesus Christ was born. 

    Moreover, as the faculty, staff, and students amassed at the university field, Mr. Raymund Peter June Flores led the countdown for the illumination as the colorful lights and bright designs finally lit up the campus.  

    After the opening of lights, various performances from different organizations elevated the Christmas spirit, along with Mr. Parcia having his own special number.  

    All-in-all, the event was composed of 13 different groups with their carols, dances, and theater performances.

  • Employees strut their way to the Mr. and Ms. Employee 2024 of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc., as it unfolds, December 5. 

    The event was composed of three portions: a production number opened the competition, as well as a sports category that showcased various affiliated sports of the employees, with the talent portion displaying songs, drama, and dances, to name a few. 

    C/M JC Billones was officially crowned Mr. Employee 2024 as he took two of the awards in his name, Best in Production Number and Best in Sports Attire, while fellow employee Mr. David Judd Novilla won the Best in Talent award. 

    This year's Ms. Employee 2024 was a slot all taken by Ms. Rube Rose Dela Cruz, as she won all three of the aforementioned awards.

  • In an initiative to provide basic training courses within Iloilo City, 24 second-year Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) students of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc., utilized the newly constructed training center within university grounds for pilot testing. 

    In a span of three days, the Polaris-2A students were to test the training center on firefighting and personal survival techniques, testing new equipment and facilities for basic training worthiness. 

    On the first day, November 27, the students don new coveralls for a personal survival technique refresher, practicing in a first, jumping on the 10-meter-deep pool while wearing immersion suits. 

    The second day was on firefighting drills, with the last day on December 2, making the official assessment of the students on all they had learned in the two disciplines. 

    Furthermore, this marks the first instance of the training center being practiced for pilot testing and soon aiming to be open for second-year students to take their basic training courses within Iloilo City.
