  • The office of the Community Extension spearheaded the Shoreline Clean-up at Purok 8, Barangay Tangub and the Estero Clean-up at Puroks Katilingban and San Jose, Barangay Alijis on September 16, 2023.
    These were participated by the 824th ROTC students, Earth Guard, VOICES, Red Cross, SSG, Barangay Kagawads and Tanods, different Youth Leaders and JBLCF-B Faculty and Staff.
  • A new set of Unit Model Cadet Top 10 finalists were named at John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation - Bacolod covered court, October 26, 2023.
    The Unit Model Cadet 2023 second screening featured twenty (20) competitors, coming from the first- and second-year students of the College of Maritime Education.
    The Top 20 applicants were judged according to their self-introduction, photo analysis and situational questions, and followed up with a talent presentation portion.
    All mechanics of the competition were set into place to make sure that the finalists are intellectually ready, witty, and talented to compete for the slots of the Three Unit Model Cadets 2023.
    Furthermore, the panel of judges consisting of departmental heads of the institution, namely: Ivan June G. Gayotin (CES Officer), Reinand Y. Ramirez, CPA (Chief Accountant), Rexenel Ibardolaza, MME (Head of Student Affairs & Services), C/E Joni P. Gan (BSME Program Head), C/M John Erll N. Destacamento, PhD (OIC-Dean of CME), Emeliza T. Estimo, PhD (Unit Research Coordinator), and Engr. Roberto Neal S. Sobrejuanite (Administrator).

  • A Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Orientation was conducted last October 05, 2023 at the HMA Function Hall. The activity was initiated by the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Office. This is in line with the institutionโ€™s plan for certification in ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
    The DRRM orientation was participated by 15 student-members of 34th NROTC Unit, Red Cross Youth and Junior Safety Organization of Negros Occ. and 20 JBLCF- B faculty and staff. The participants will soon become the core group of the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation- Bacolod.
    Invited guests and speakers were Dr. Anna Maria Laarni M. Pornan, Bacolod City DRRM Officer and Mr. Rodolfo A. Jamora Jr.
  • CLARENCE PAUL LINDONG, a JBLCF-B students and artist placed second in the Poster Making Contest during the National Seafarers' Day Celebration on 25 September 2023 at Intramuros, Manila.
    His work is entitled, "Vanguards of the Seas and the Future". To elaborate, Mdpn. Lindong describes his work: "We, as people of the seas, have always been fond of its beauty. From the majestic waters reflecting the skies above, and the abundance of life living below; our bodies of water have always been part of our lives and that's THE TRUTH. As time changes, our seas have also experienced changes, devastating, to say the least. As vanguards of the seas, we must not only aim to transport everything safely, but we must also put in mind that our seas are a part of us. The poster shows how we, as protectors, should annex the present into the future through sustainable development, not just to protect our seas but also in preparation for the next generation."
  • JBLCF- B Chief Librarian, Dr. Elisa V. Garcia is the President of the National Board of Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. for SY 2024-2025.ย  She was voted in last November 20, 2023 during the National Congress of PLAI at the SMX Convention Center, Clark Field, Pampanga.

    Dr. Garcia also received the Severino I. Velasco award for her service as the Executive Vice President of PLAI from 2019 to 2021.

  • In a momentous event, company passers and scholars from John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod, Inc. gathered with anticipation for the inaugural launch of the Cadet Values and Discipline Program on March 20, 2024 at the HMA Function Hall.

    This initiative was spearheaded by the Dean of The College Maritime Education, CM John Erll Destacamento together with the Quality Assurance Manager, 3E Bernard Sorbito Jr.ย  This program aims to upraise the standards of Lacsonian Cadets, particularly in the Bacolod Campus and to set a prestigious reputation of a distinguished cadet who will serve as an inspiration to his/her fellow Lacsonians.ย  These qualities will exceed the expectations of our stakeholders, sponsors and the shipping companies.ย ย ย 

    ย In his welcome address, JBLCF Administrator, Engr. Neal S. Sobrejuanite, emphasized the indispensable role of values and discipline in shaping the character of every student, stressing the importance of leading by example for cadets, company scholars, and passers alike.

    ย Under the guidance of facilitators, the participants engaged in various discipline routines, including Uniform Inspection and Daily Mustering. They highlighted the significance of these symbolic activities as pillars of discipline and character development.ย  The passers and scholars also delved into the significance of the โ€œCulture as John B. Cadetโ€.ย  Through the invited speakers/officers, they listened to valuable insights on the primary objective of the program which is to nurture leaders who embody steadfast discipline and values, poised to excel in their respective fields.

    ย The successful launch of the Cadet Values and Discipline Program signals a new chapter of academic excellence and moral strength at JBLCF-Bacolod.     The Community Extension Services Organization (CESO), Earthguard, and NROTC participated in the Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-up Activity, facilitated by PANGGAS of the Diocesan Commission on Catechesis of Bacolod held at Purok Calubay, Barangay Sampinit, Bago City on June 22, 2024. The activity aims to show the importance of mangroves especially their protection to humans and animals during calamities.

    Articona received the award from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) at the Midas Hotel in Pasay City on 25 June 2024. The event themed, โ€˜Navigating the Future: Safety Firstโ€™ recognizes the vital contributions of seafarers to the global economy.
    The Day of the Seafarer is an annual celebration designated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to recognize the significant contributions of seafarers to international seaborne trade, the world economy and civil society. In the Philippines, it is commemorated every 25th of June pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 183 series of 2011.

  • Congratulations to JBLCF- Bacolod for winning Champions in Cake Supreme competition and Chef Dessert Wars in the recently concluded Big Bite: Sweet Central competition held at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central Bacolod, Activity Center on August 23 -25, 2024.
    The skilled and passionate contestants of the College of Business and Education who joined the competition in Cake Supreme flaunted their skills and creativity in decorating a graduation cake that stood out among all cake entries, while the competitors in Chef Dessert Wars uniquely innovated the well-known Ginataang Lugaw into a whole new appealing dessert beating all competitors from various colleges and universities across Bacolod and Negros Occidental.
