Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, through its Community Extension Services (CES) Office, held a Mental Health Awareness Seminar on April 7, 2026, at the University Library Extension. The seminar, with the theme โ€œListen, Understand, Support: A Call for Mental Health Awareness,โ€ was attended by student beneficiaries of the Educational Assistance Program from Grades 6 to 12, representing partner communities: Barangay Trapiche (Oton), Barangay Sooc (Arevalo), and Oton National High School.

    Ms. Mary Luna Dawn Cabingan, RGC, the resource speaker, emphasized the importance of mental health, particularly for students facing academic, family, and personal challenges. The seminar aimed to raise awareness, encourage conversations, and empower students to seek help when needed. Participants gained valuable insights on recognizing emotional struggles, managing stress, and supporting peers with mental health concerns.

    This activity was made possible with the support of the Educational Research and Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation, in collaboration with the CES Office and the Social Work student interns from Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus.

  • Today, April 30, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Molo), Inc. conducted its annual Starboard Awards Night, recognizing student leaders and organizations for their contributions and formally marking the transition of leadership within the student body.

    The event opened with a processional of organization members, council officers, Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers, advisers, and school heads, followed by an opening message from Maโ€™am Nancy Rose R. Pelopero, Head of Student Affairs Services.

    Recognition rites were held for clubs and organizations, council officers, and outstanding student leaders, honouring their achievements and involvement in campus initiatives throughout the academic year.

    Moreover, speeches from outgoing council advisers Dr. Roland John Cyril Emague and Dr. Marybec Guillergan, BUS SEC Governor Roland Ganzon, MED SEC Governor Justin Klent Villegas, and SSG President Keana Rose Cabuyoc were delivered, reflecting on their tenure and experiences in office.

    Tonight's highlight, The Starboard Awards, recognized outstanding class presidents, class chief engineers, school organizations, and organization presidents, honoring their exemplary performance and significant contributions to their student community.

    A turnover ceremony, referred to as the Turnover of the Key of Responsibility, symbolized the formal transfer of leadership, followed by the induction of newly elected council officers.
    The Starboard Awards Night serves as an annual platform for recognizing student excellence and ensuring continuity in student leadership.

  • JBLFMU-Molo TechVoc Center held its โ€œGlobal Kitchens Immersion: Global Flavors, Local Experienceโ€ at the University gym today, April 29, featuring practical culinary demonstrations for the students.

    Chefs JV Victoriano and Michele Dona led the live cooking session, where they prepared dishes inspired by international cuisine and explained how similar recipes can be made using locally available ingredients. They also demonstrated basic kitchen techniques and shared practical tips from their experience in the industry.

    Students participated by observing closely, asking questions, and learning how professional kitchen setups operate in real situations. The activity gave them a clearer idea of what to expect in actual hospitality work.

    The immersion aimed to support hands-on learning and expose students to industry practices in a straightforward way, in line with the TechVoc Centerโ€™s training approach.

    With the theme โ€œExperience Two Worldsโ€™ Cuisine in One Amazing Day,โ€ the event focused on learning and exposure to different culinary styles without leaving out local food resources.

  • The Engineering Week 2026 of JBLFMU-Molo opened with a foot parade from four districts, showing unity, pride, and a strong competitive spirit among students.
    Captain Date Dalipe, Marine Superintendent of Eiko Kisen Co., Ltd., attended the program and delivered an inspiring message.

    As the keynote speaker, he urged students to understand their purpose before going on board, while promoting the mindset โ€œgo lng ng go tiwala langโ€ as a guide for trust and perseverance, and reminding them to practice kindness, avoid judging others, and give their best in every challenge.

    The ceremony continued with the oath of sportsmanship led by Mdpn. Mark Jay Berondo, followed by C/E Reynold D. Libiano, OIC-Dean of the College of Maritime Education, who then declared the official opening of Engineering Week 2026.

    The torch lighting followed, led by Mdpn. Hans Iรฑigo Parreรฑo, where the flame symbolized consistency under pressure and the pursuit of excellence among future marine engineers.

    The program continued with team presentations and cheers from District 2 Masonry, District 3 Technology, and District 4 Fishing, followed by a community dance and a Fancy Drill Competition by Polaris 2A and Polaris 2B, which showcased precision, coordination, and talent.

    The opening program ended with a clear message that Engineering Week โ€™26 promotes excellence, leadership, and continuous growth of future marine engineers prepared for real maritime challenges.

    The Engineering Week 2026 will run from May 4 to May 8, 2026.

    Second-year BSCM, BSTM, and BSCA students participated in the activity as preparation for their research subjects in the upcoming academic year.

  • The Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Workshop Caravan 2026 officially opened its first day of activities at the CSM Hall of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, Inc. on May 7, gathering educators from various schools and institutions across Iloilo.

    The activity aimed to strengthen educatorsโ€™ understanding of global citizenship education and promote responsible, inclusive, and globally aware teaching practices suited to the needs of todayโ€™s learners. Participating institutions included St. Paul University Iloilo, JBLFMU-Arevalo, Iloilo National High School, Iloilo State University of Fisheries, Science and Technology, St. Therese-MTC Colleges, Port San Pedro National High School, Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus, Inc., and JBLFMU-Molo, Inc.

    The caravan featured discussions on the Whole-School Approach in GCED led by Dr. Rowena Raton-Hibanada, Director of the Global Citizenship Education Cooperation Centre Philippines at the Philippine Normal University, and Prof. Iona Ofelia Zanoria, Project Manager of several GCED initiatives and Director of the Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office at the Philippine Normal University.

  • Mdpn. Nikel Nowlakha of JBLFMU-Molo earned the bronze medal in the Lawn Tennis Menโ€™s Singles category during the National PRISAA 2026, held on May 11โ€“16 at the Verde Aces Sports Complex in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

    Competing against student-athletes from different institutions across the country, his consistency on the court allowed him to secure a podium finish in the national tournament.

    His achievement not only brought pride to JBLFMU-Molo but also highlighted the universityโ€™s growing presence in higher levels of competition.

  • Anchored on the shared values of Excellence and Integrity, JBLFMU continues to open meaningful opportunities for its cadets through strong linkages with maritime industry partners.

    A total of 81 engine cadets from JBLFMU-Molo participated in the written examination phase of the cadet screening conducted by Ventis Maritime Corporation, in partnership with OneSea Solutions. The company was represented by Capt. Kennette Clavel, Vice President for Operations, and Mr. Pablito Emboltorio, Fleet Manager (Tanker) / Scholarship Officer.

    We extend our sincere appreciation to Ventis Maritime Corporation and OneSea Solutions for giving our cadets the opportunity to pursue their maritime career and move closer to future employment after graduation.

  • Dr. Louise May Lim, International Relations Coordinator of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, participated in the five-day training workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) during the 25th Asia-Pacific Training Workshop (APTW) held in Seoul and Gangwon, South Korea from April 27 to May 1.

    The workshop gathered alumni and new participants to discuss the role of GCED in promoting peace, coexistence, and intercultural understanding.

    Participants reflected on how GCED can address conflict and division by encouraging openness, empathy, and shared responsibility among individuals and communities.

    The activity echoed UNESCOโ€™s principle that peace must be built in the minds and hearts of people, emphasizing the importance of education in fostering global awareness and mutual understanding.

    Lim was among only two delegates from the Philippines who participated in the workshop. As an alumna of the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), her participation was once again subsidized by UNESCO-APCEIU, a UNESCO-affiliated institution that promotes Global Citizenship Education and Education for International Understanding across the Asia-Pacific region.

    Her participation reinforced JBLFMU-Moloโ€™s continued engagement in international exchange programs and initiatives related to Global Citizenship Education.
