• Company orientation conducted by Seaspan Philippines and Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTC) brought together the next generation of maritime professionals at JBL Hall, JBLFMUโ€“Arevalo.

    We were honored to have Capt. Mihai Zaharia, Seaspan Romanian Regional Crewing Representative, and Mr. Andrei Carlo Turibio, Marine Consultant Support Head of PTC, who introduced the Seaspan legacy, its global presence, values, and commitment to developing world-class seafarers.

    In attendance were JBLFMU cadets from both Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering, together with Capt. Luis G. Evidente, Member of the Board of Trustees, and Mr. Robert O. Parcia, Administrator of JBLFMUโ€“Arevalo.


    This collaboration reinforces the shared values of Leadership, Excellence, Integrity, and Discipline, which serve as guiding principles for both JBLFMU and Seaspan in shaping competent, value-driven maritime professionals.

    Together, we continue to foster relationships built on trust, professionalism, and a shared vision of excellence in maritime service.

  • To kick off this yearโ€™s Mission Objective Week, the event began with the official opening program, featuring the raising of banners and the presentation of our Model Student and Model Cadet Finalists, as well as the Mr. and Ms. JBLFMU-Molo candidates! Teams are also showing their talents and creativity through bench cheering and team presentations.

  • The JBLFMU-Molo College of Business and Management (CBM) sashed its new sets of exemplary Model Students 2025 during a ceremony held at the university gym last November 07.

    Here are the winners and titleholders for this year's Search for Model Student:

    Major Awards:
    Model Student 2025: Mdpwn. Princess Anne Magbanua (Bachelor of Science in Cruise Ship Management)
    First Runner-Up: Mdpn. Rex Gabriel Alcarde (Bachelor of Science in Cruise Ship Management)
    Second Runner-Up: Mdpwn. Alexandria Alvine Eucariza (Bachelor of Science in Cruise Ship Management)

    Special Awards:

    The top three model students received a plaque, gift prizes, and sashes, and will receive 75%, 50%, and 25% scholarship discounts, respectively.

    All finalists were awarded certificates of recognition and gift prizes, while selected students also received the Green Leadership Award.

  • The John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) Dolphins Swim Team successfully concluded the 5th John B. Lacson Memorial Swimfest, which gathered talented young swimmers to compete and showcase their skills at the JBLFMU pool in Iloilo City on November 22โ€“23, 2025.

    In honor of the late Captain John B. Lacson, swim teams from across Western Visayas took part in the much-anticipated two-day event, highlighting the athletesโ€™ remarkable talent and discipline.


    Secretary General Eric Buhain of PAI graced the JBLFMUโ€“Panay competition, where young swimmers displayed passion and determination that underscored the value of grassroots development, while Region 6 Director Jojo Quilop and Coaches Ronald and Ivy Sta. Ana were instrumental in nurturing athletes and helping deliver a successful event that reflects the universityโ€™s commitment to fostering excellence in competitive swimming.

    The event was made possible through the support and partnerships of Philippine Aquatics and the Congress of Philippine Aquatics Inc., whose collaboration helped ensure the smooth execution and continued growth of the annual Swimfest.

  • In celebration of the 35th Library and Information Services Month (LIS Month) and the 91st National Book Week 2025, the JBLFMU-Molo University Library Department and CES Office successfully conducted an Outreach Activity on October 17, 2025, at Severo Abeto Elementary School, Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, Iloilo City.


    This initiative was organized to broaden the reach of the University Library Department and strengthen its commitment to promoting literacy within partner communities. Through a series of interactive and learner-centered activities, the program aimed to cultivate a love for reading, provide enriching educational experiences, and foster meaningful community engagement among the Grade 1 and Grade 2 pupils of the partner school.
    The activity not only highlighted the importance of libraries as gateways to knowledge but also reinforced JBLFMUโ€“Moloโ€™s mission to support education, empowerment, and lifelong learning.

  • This yearโ€™s Model Student 2025 finalists from JBLFMU-Molo actively participated in EON Cares: Oplan Tanom, a collaborative environmental initiative spearheaded by the EON Group of Companies in partnership with partners, private organizations, the Local Government Unit of Dumangas, and EGC employees. The activity took place on October 25, 2025, at Barangay Maquina, Dumangas, Iloilo. Selected faculty and staff from JBLFMUโ€“Molo also joined the students in this meaningful endeavor.


    EON Cares: Oplan Tanom is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program that advocates for environmental restoration and sustainability. During the event, a total of 1,000 fruit-bearing trees and 100 mahogany trees were planted.
    Through its participation in initiatives that nurture both people and the environment, the JBLFMUโ€“Molo community continues to uphold its steadfast commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and the development of responsible future leaders.

  • Laskaridis Maritime, with Epsilon Maritime Services, Inc. conducted a courtesy visit at John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Molo) earlier today, November 18, strengthening their collaboration with the institution and opening discussions on cadetship opportunities, particularly for aspiring female cadets.

    The visiting delegation included Ms. Maria Paidi, Crewing Manager; Ms. Tina Vikatou, Deputy Crewing Manager; Mr. Filippos Zigoris, DPA/CSO; and Capt. Rolly Diaz, Fleet Manager. They were formally welcomed by JBLFMU-M officials and student representatives under The Maritime Vanguard.

    During the visit, the group held discussions with Dr. Ronald Raymond Sebastian, CEO of JBLFMU; Engr. Roberto Neal Sobrejuanite, Unit Administrator; and Dr. Virmari Tan, Director for the International Relations Office. Conversations centered on strengthening training pathways, aligning cadetship requirements with international maritime standards, and expanding support systems for female cadets aspiring to join the maritime workforce.

    The company representatives expressed interest in how JBLFMU continues to promote inclusive maritime education. University leaders, in turn, highlighted ongoing initiatives to provide high-quality training and broaden opportunities for all cadets.

    To further understand the institutionโ€™s learning environment, the delegation was given a tour of key university facilities and various instructional areas. The tour commenced at the Mother Foundation Building, where they viewed institutional heritage displays at the JBLFMU Maritime Museum.

    The courtesy visit reinforces the importance of industry-academe partnerships and the growing role of female cadets in shaping the future of the maritime sector.

  • MW/CAPT Angel Hope V. Tabladillo O-1CL, Corps Commander of the 802nd NROTC Unit (JBLFMU-Molo), represented the Philippine Navy Reserve Officers' Training Corps in the ROTC Cultural Understanding and Leadership Program (CULP) 2025 held at Mangilao, Guam, United States of America from November 12-17, 2025.


    Tabladillo, with fellow selected PH Navy ROTC cadets, joined selected cadets from the Philippine Army and Air Force ROTC units to participate in leadership activities and cross-cultural exchanges alongside international cadets.

    Currently a third-year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management student, Tabladillo's participation highlights the capability of Filipino cadets to engage on the global stage and brings pride to John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Molo), Inc. and the Philippine Navy.

    CULP, the Cultural Understanding and Leadership Program, is an ROTC exchange program for military cadets to gain cultural immersion, improve language proficiency, foster international relations, and develop skills in diplomacy, strategic thinking, and adaptability through hands-on, real-world situations.
