• The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) headquarters from Manila, along with DOST Region 6, conducted a project visit to the Marine Sewage Treatment Plant, a research funded by DOST-PCIEERD in collaboration with JBLFMU-Molo, April 17, 2024.

    Among the notable attendees were Dr. Enrico C. Paringit, the esteemed executive director of DOST-PCIEERD, Mr. Ruel A. Pili, DOST-PCIEERD Consortia Project Manager, and Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga, DOST VI Regional Director, alongside the dedicated team members from DOST-PCIEERD and DOST Region VI.

    The distinguished presence of Dr. Ronald Raymond L. Sebastian, CEO of JBLFMU, and Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MMM, added eminence to the occasion as they shared their insights and warm welcomes.


    Grounded in the regulatory frameworks of MARPOL (Marine Pollution) 73/78 Annex VI Regulation and RA 9275 (Clean Water Act), this study holds profound implications for maritime industries, aiming to assess the viability and efficacy of implementing Marine Sewage Treatment Plants (MSTPs) aboard domestic ships, underscoring a commitment to fostering cleaner, more sustainable maritime practices in alignment with global environmental standards.


    Moreover, the project inventors included Dr. Rolando A. Alimen, Engr. Allan Roberto, C/E Agustin Bedia, Ph.D., Engr. Nerios S. Cortejo, Engr. Ernie Jay A. Teves, and Dr. Victor Ruperto B. Jaleco.

  • Soaring high with their blazing capabilities, The Seagull, the official student publication of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, Inc., bagged 16 awards during the awarding ceremonies of 21st Word Cup Philippines National Journalism Conference and Contests at Angels' Hills in Tagaytay City, Philippines, May 4-5.

     After victoriously competing on their respective categories 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗹 took home the following awards: 

     



     










    Almost 300 delegates from numerous schools across the Philippines converged at the 21st Word Cup Philippines National Journalism Conference and Contests.

    Marking a historic return to in-person events after the pandemic, the Word Cup Associated Editors Co. and Ed Calibre International organized the two-day conference, equipping campus journalists with skills to report on post-pandemic scientific advancements and their impact on society.

    The Seagull extends its deepest appreciation to everyone involved: organizers, evaluators, editorial board, staff, adviser, instructors, JBLFMU-Molo, Inc. management, parents, and the unwavering support of the Lacsonian community.

  • The event showcased the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines, and attracted food enthusiasts to indulge in traditional Filipino flavors and delicacies.

    In addition to the gastronomic delights, the annual Filipino Food Month Celebration Closing Program also featured cultural performances, showcasing the rich tapestry of Filipino arts and traditions.

    JBLFMU-Molo's Technical-Vocational Center, in collaboration with the College of Business and Management, with the guidance of Dr. Ma. Agnes Regina Torres, Mr. Rey Ganzon, Mr. Wilfred Lagasca Jr., Mr. Michaelou Baligaya, and Dr. Ferlene Grace Lelis, set up a food exhibition booth that includes chips, candies, and polvoron made out of vegetable peels, emphasizing how beneficial food stuff that is often discarded can be for reducing food waste, utilizing valuable nutrients, and creating tasty, healthy snacks.

    Furthermore, Mdpwn. Alexandra May Tarroja, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Cruise Ship Management student of JBLFMU-Molo, was the university's student representative to share valuable insights about the Sustainability Development Goal number 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

    The event was spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA), and the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP) - Iloilo City, in partnership with SM City Iloilo, the United Nations (UN), and various universities across Iloilo City.

    The annual Filipino Food Month celebration serves as a reminder of the enduring significance of Filipino food in shaping cultural identity and fostering community spirit.

  • JBLFMU-MOLO HONORS the 126th Birthday of Captain JOHN B LACSON

    Milestone on the Day of the Founder

    Today, the JBLFMU-Molo, Inc. community commemorated the founder Captain Juan Bautista Lacson's 126th birthday. Captain Lacson whose lasting impact on maritime education is a source of motivation and dignity.

    From his earliest years to his last expedition, Capt. John B. Lacson's dedication and leadership are still an inspiration. His vision continues to motivate upcoming generations of seafarers and maritime industry professionals, as does his unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of maritime performance.

    The celebration of Captain Lacson's birthday this year also served as a historic milestone for JBLFMU-Molo community in its activation of air conditioning units in all classrooms in the campus.


    According to Mr. Parcia, energizing these air-conditioning units is a “huge milestone for the JBLFMU - Molo community” in providing a more conducive learning spaces for the students in the campus.

    President Emeritus Dr. Mary Lou L. Arcelo, her son Dr. Ronald Raymund L. Sebastian, CEO of JBFLMU, and our administrator, Mr. Robert O. Parcia, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Eventually, the blessing of the air conditioning units in every classroom followed.

    The department heads, teachers, and students joined the Lacson family in laying a wreath at the statue of Capt. Lacson.
