    Almost 300 delegates from numerous schools across the Philippines converged at the 21st Word Cup Philippines National Journalism Conference and Contests.

    Marking a historic return to in-person events after the pandemic, the Word Cup Associated Editors Co. and Ed Calibre International organized the two-day conference, equipping campus journalists with skills to report on post-pandemic scientific advancements and their impact on society.

  • The event showcased the rich culinary heritage of the Philippines, and attracted food enthusiasts to indulge in traditional Filipino flavors and delicacies.

    In addition to the gastronomic delights, the annual Filipino Food Month Celebration Closing Program also featured cultural performances, showcasing the rich tapestry of Filipino arts and traditions.

    JBLFMU-Molo's Technical-Vocational Center, in collaboration with the College of Business and Management, with the guidance of Dr. Ma. Agnes Regina Torres, Mr. Rey Ganzon, Mr. Wilfred Lagasca Jr., Mr. Michaelou Baligaya, and Dr. Ferlene Grace Lelis, set up a food exhibition booth that includes chips, candies, and polvoron made out of vegetable peels, emphasizing how beneficial food stuff that is often discarded can be for reducing food waste, utilizing valuable nutrients, and creating tasty, healthy snacks.

    Furthermore, Mdpwn. Alexandra May Tarroja, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Cruise Ship Management student of JBLFMU-Molo, was the university's student representative to share valuable insights about the Sustainability Development Goal number 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

    The event was spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCAA), and the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP) - Iloilo City, in partnership with SM City Iloilo, the United Nations (UN), and various universities across Iloilo City.

    Milestone on the Day of the Founder

    Today, the JBLFMU-Molo, Inc. community commemorated the founder Captain Juan Bautista Lacson's 126th birthday. Captain Lacson whose lasting impact on maritime education is a source of motivation and dignity.

    From his earliest years to his last expedition, Capt. John B. Lacson's dedication and leadership are still an inspiration. His vision continues to motivate upcoming generations of seafarers and maritime industry professionals,ย as does his unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of maritime performance.

    The celebration of Captain Lacson's birthday this year also served as a historic milestone for JBLFMU-Molo community in its activation of air conditioning units in all classrooms in the campus.


    According to Mr. Parcia, energizing these air-conditioning units is a โ€œhuge milestone for the JBLFMU - Molo communityโ€ in providing a more conducive learning spaces for the students in the campus.

    President Emeritus Dr. Mary Lou L. Arcelo, her son Dr. Ronald Raymund L. Sebastian, CEO of JBFLMU, and our administrator, Mr. Robert O. Parcia, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony.ย Eventually, the blessingย of the air conditioning units in every classroom followed.

  • Today, the College of Maritime Education at JBLFMU-Molo hosted a research colloquium in the Audio Visual Room (AVR), highlighting the exceptional research and innovation of its Marine Engineering students.

    The event featured both paper and poster presentations, demonstrating the institution's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and cutting-edge research.

    Mdpn. Lance L. Quisto's paper, titled โ€œCorrelation Between Technological Awareness and Academic Performance Among Freshmen Maritime Students,โ€ secured first place in the paper presentation category. Dr. Rolando A. Alimen served as the adviser for this award-winning research.

    In the poster presentation category, Mdpn. RV John Fortaleza's work, "Challenges and Adaptation Strategies of the College of Maritime Education Instructors in the New Normal," took first place, with guidance from adviser Dr. Elsie F. Gancia.

    The colloquium also featured a significant project site visit. Dr. Rex C. Casiple from CHED Region 6 attended the inspection of the Marine Sewage Treatment Plant for Domestic Vessels, a project spearheaded by Dr. Rolando Alimen, Dr. Victor Jaleco, Dr. Agustin D. Bedia, 3/E Ernie Jay A. Teves, 3/E Allan A. Roberto, and 3/E Nerios S. Cortejo. This initiative underscores the institution's dedication to advancing maritime technology and promoting environmental sustainability.

  • Jelan Langusta, a third-year BSTM student at JBLFMU-Molo, emerged victorious in the Vocal Solo Contest at the 2024 National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) in Legazpi City, July 23.

    Langusta, representing Region VI, performed the song "Sige, Malaya Ka Na" with the theme jukebox, outshining 14 other candidates from across the country.

  • Earlier today, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo campus kicked off the academic year 2024-2025 with its annual Synergy program, designed to welcome both new and returning students.

    Engr. Roberto Neal S. Sobrejuanite, the newly appointed administrator, set the tone for the event with an opening message.
    "John B. offers quality education and training," he affirmed, promising that the institution would provide students with the necessary resources, particularly in classrooms and laboratories, to better prepare them for their future careers.

    Engr. Sobrejuanite emphasized two core values for the school year: courtesy and discipline.

    "I want you to be courteous," he stated, underlining the importance of respect and politeness within the school community. "And the value of discipline," he continued, "it will be your ticket to success," resonating with the students and setting a clear expectation for the year ahead.

    The program featured a variety of activities, including the Supreme Student Governmentโ€™s Synergy video presentation, followed by a values-sharing session led by 3/E Andy Ryota Idei, who reinforced the importance of the values highlighted by Engr. Sobrejuanite.

    Additionally, students were oriented on the principles of courtesy, discipline, and the proper dress code.
    The event concluded with a presentation of different student organizations and a uniform show-off, giving new students a glimpse of the various opportunities available at JBLFMU-Molo.
  • Today, 88 first-year BS Marine Engineering cadets from JBLFMU-Molo are currently taking online examinations as part of the selection process for Stolt-Nielsen Phils., Inc.ย ย Those who qualify will earn a spot in the company's scholarship program, opening doors to opportunities in their future careers.
    This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to nurturing the next generation of maritimeย professionals.

  • The Parent-Employee Association (PEA) of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo conducted its General Assembly at the university gymnasium on September 7. The meeting, led by PEA President Mr. Maximo B. Montero, focused on important updates for the 2024-2025 school year.

    Engr. Roberto Neal Sobrejuanite, school administrator, provided key updates on school activities, while Dr. Angeli N. Sebastian, Dean of the College of Business and Management, and C/E Agustin D. Bedia, Dean of the College of Maritime Education, shared college-related updates.
    3/E Kim Gemvir D. Aquino gave a talk on one of the university's three core values, Perseverance. Mrs. Celerina Gatoteo, PEA Treasurer, presented a report on school fees and financial updates.

    The assembly continued with the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting, followed by additional updates from Mrs. Gatoteo on school fees and financial matters.
    The event concluded with an election of the new PEA Board of Directors and Officers for the upcoming term.
